Animal Disease Models Workshop
Date: 1-2 October 2025
Time: 8.00 am – 4.00 pm
Venue: Sidra Medicine Auditorium, Tower D, Level 2, Main Hospital
Overview
Join us for the Animal Disease Models Workshop, a two-day immersive experience designed for researchers, clinicians, and students interested in biomedical research.
The workshop will explore the role of mouse (Mus musculus), chicken (Gallus gallus), frog (Xenopus), fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster), nematode (Caenorhabditis elegans), and zebrafish (Danio rerio) in disease modeling and precision medicine.
- Day 1: Theoretical sessions on the importance of animal models in biomedical research, focusing on disease mechanisms and applications.
- Day 2: Hands-on sessions covering zebrafish experimental techniques such as microinjection, cardiac imaging, behavioral imaging and disease modeling platform in zebrafish model. Limited spots available.
Objectives
- Understand the Role of Animal Models – Explore how different model organisms contribute to disease research and precision medicine.
- Learn Experimental Techniques – Gain insights into genetic engineering, imaging, and disease modeling.
- Develop Hands-on Skills – Engage in practical sessions with zebrafish to apply key methodologies.
- Enhance Research Expertise – Strengthen knowledge of animal models in biomedical sciences.
- Foster Collaboration & Networking – Connect with experts and peers in the field of biomedical research.
Target Audience
- Researchers, clinicians, and students in biomedical sciences.
- Professionals looking to expand their expertise in animal model research.
