In the 2025–26 U.S. News & World Report rankings of the Best Children’s Hospitals, Lurie Children’s once again stands as the top-ranked children’s hospital in Illinois—recognized nationally in all 11 pediatric specialties. Lurie Children’s provides Illinois’ most comprehensive pediatric neuroscience care—advancing outcomes for children with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions through precision medicine, advanced technology, and pioneering research. Our neurology and neurosurgery programs are ranked 7th in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. For the second consecutive year, our neuroscience program earned its highest national ranking, reflecting the growth of innovative, patient-centered care within our NIH-funded, Level 4 National Association of Epilepsy Care accredited pediatric epilepsy center. The center includes specialized clinics for tuberous sclerosis and Dravet syndrome, with gene regulation therapy trials underway. It is home to the nation’s largest ketogenic diet center and a leading epilepsy surgery program.Lurie Children’s is the first and only pediatric hospital in Illinois with ABRET lab accreditation for both neurodiagnostic testing and the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. Our NICU tele-video EEG program provides 24/7 diagnostic access, while surgical innovations such as patient-specific neuromodulation and minimally invasive procedures improve outcomes and quality of life. The pediatric neurocritical care program, among the largest in the nation, offers multidisciplinary care and long-term follow-up for children with acute brain injuries and neurovascular disorders. The pediatric brain tumor program, one of the country’s largest, combines deep clinical expertise with clinical trials and translational research, including immune profiling of BRAF-altered tumors that identified new immunotherapy targets and improved survival in preclinical studies. The Mazza Foundation Neuromuscular Disorders Program, certified by the Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy and Muscular Dystrophy Association, provides the Midwest’s most comprehensive care with 31 active clinical trials and gene therapy studies. Additional leading programs include the Spina Bifida Center, as well as one of the nation’s few pediatric neurovascular programs, the Brachial Plexus Clinic, and the Fetal Neurology Service, which supports families expecting a child with prenatally diagnosed neurological conditions. Our functional neurosurgery program and comprehensive movement disorders clinic manage complex movement disorders, chronic pain, and epilepsy through collaborations with Marianjoy and Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. Our neurosurgeons perform first-of-their-kind, computer-guided procedures using advanced lesioning and neurostimulation techniques.
