Dr. Sohair Elsiddig

Dr. Sohair Elsiddig is a dedicated Pediatric Consultant at Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, Qatar. Her professional journey began with a medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at Omdurman Islamic University in Sudan. She completed her pediatric residency and Academic Pediatric Fellowship at Hamad Medical Corporation. Additionally, she holds a fellowship in clinical nutrition from Duke University, where she passionately pursued her interests in clinical nutrition and pediatric growth. Dr. Elsiddig is also interested in medical education and adult learning; she earned a master's degree in health professions education from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom.

Issam Kadoura

Clinical Nurse Leader – Neurology and General Pediatric Clinic, Sidra Medicine

Issam Kadoura is a dedicated Clinical Nurse Leader at the Neurology and General Pediatric Clinic at Sidra Medicine, where he has been contributing since 2017. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Jordan University of Science and Technology, earned between 1999 and 2003.

Issam began his nursing career at Jordan Hospital as a Registered Nurse, where he was promoted to Charge Nurse, serving from 2003 to 2007. In 2007, he joined King Fahad Medical City’s Neuroscience Center ward as a Staff Nurse and was later appointed Charge Nurse of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit in 2009. His leadership and clinical expertise led to his promotion as Epilepsy Nurse Coordinator from 2012 to 2017. In this role, Issam was instrumental in developing and leading specialized epilepsy care programs, clinical leadership, and multidisciplinary care coordination.

Tania Houbous

Tania Farah Houbous is a social worker with over 15 years of experience in the field. For the past eight years, she has been working at Sidra Medicine, where she supports patients throughout their treatment journey by addressing emotional and social challenges. She collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to promote holistic, patient-centered care.

As a Social Worker II in the Allied Health department, Tania provides comprehensive clinical counseling to individuals, families, and groups. Her focus includes helping families adjust to diagnoses and treatment decisions, cope with loss of function, and manage emotional or family crises—delivered within an evidence-based framework.

She also works in Sidra’s Teen Clinic, where she supports adolescents diagnosed with eating disorders. She provides Family-Based Therapy (FBT) to help both patients and their families navigate the recovery process together.

Fathea Adheir

Fathea is a highly accomplished healthcare professional with over 23 years of hospital pharmacy and leadership experience. She holds a pharmacy degree alongside an Executive MBA from HEC Paris – Qatar. Recognized for her commitment to quality and patient safety, she received the Stars of Excellence award from Hamad Medical Corporation and successfully implemented the region’s first automated pharmacy systems. Currently, Fathea leads all hospital pharmacy services at Sidra Medicine. A strong advocate for patient involvement in healthcare, she leverages her role as a social media influencer to raise awareness about proper medication use and side effects. Additionally, she is an active member of the MENA Coalition for HPV Elimination and WHO groups dedicated to developing regional strategies for cervical cancer screening and preventio.

Dr. Bouthayna Al-Tamimi is an award-winning Consultant Orthodontist specialising in complex orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics. She was honoured with the prestigious Qatar Foundation Excellence Award by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser for her contributions to healthcare and leadership in Qatar. A graduate of HEC Paris, she holds an Executive MBA with distinction.

With 20 years of training and experience in the United Kingdom, Dr. Al-Tamimi completed her undergraduate and postgraduate training at King’s College London, Guy’s Hospital, and Queen Mary’s Hospital, obtaining both a Master’s in Orthodontics and Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and recipient of the Ronald Gain Prize.

Prior to joining Sidra Medicine, Dr. Al-Tamimi worked as a Cleft and Craniofacial Fellow at Great Ormond Street Hospital London and completed a rigorous Consultant program at the Eastman Dental Institute and Kingston Hospital.

Since joining Sidra Medicine in 2021, Dr. Al-Tamimi has led the orthodontic care of children with cleft lip and palate, craniosynostosis, and other facial anomalies. She is especially focused on establishing Sidra as a centre of excellence for cleft and craniofacial care.

Her experience includes managing severe malocclusions, jaw deformities, craniofacial anomalies, cleft lip and palate, and sleep apnoea. She also manages patients requiring orthognathic surgery and distraction osteogenesis. She takes the utmost care to make patients and their families feel at ease and has a friendly approach tailoring treatment to individual needs and expectations.

Dr. Al-Tamimi has published in many peer-reviewed journals and has lectured nationally and internationally.

Dr. Tawfeg Ben Omran

Dr. Tawfeg Ben-Omran is the Division Chief of Genetics and Genomic Medicine at Sidra Medicine, a women’s and children’s hospital in the State of Qatar.

Dr. Ben-Omran’s clinic provides comprehensive genetic services including clinical evaluation and risk assessment; genetic counselling; diagnosis and the advanced management for a variety of genetic disorders in pediatric patients of all ages. The clinic also offers ongoing multidisciplinary care for patients with genetic conditions and helps them access resources and treatment programs personalized to their condition.

The clinic also offers genetic counselling in partnership with the Qatar National Premarital Genetic Screening Program. Other key services include preimplantation genetic diagnosis and prenatal genetic testing and diagnosis and Inborn Errors of Metabolism.

Dr. Eman A.Rahman Senan Al Maslamani is a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Senior Attending Physician at SIDRA Medicine, Doha, State of Qatar. She is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College-Qatar and Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatric at College of Medicine, Qatar University
Dr. Eman the Program Director Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship. She is also an Assistant Program Director of Pediatric Residency Program and Chairs its Assessment Committee.

Administratively, she is the Medical Director of the Infection Prevention & Control Sub-Committee and a member of several committees at Sidra Medicine.
She represents Qatar and is an examiner of the Arab Board of Health Specializations (Pediatric).

As a practitioner, Dr. Eman enhances health of infants, children, and adolescents by promoting excellence in the diagnosis, management, and prevention of infectious diseases through clinical care, education, research, and advocacy. She cares and follows-up Infectious Disease patients in General Pediatrics, Oncology, Orthopedics and other Hospital referred patients (i.e. ENT, Ophthalmology, Plastic, Burn unit patients). Supervising fellows, residents and medical students from WCMC-Q and Qatar University in the ID Clinic as well in daily rounds.

Dr. Samir Gupta

Professor Samir Gupta, Division Chief of Neonatology, joined Sidra Medicine in 2018. He is Program Director of Qatar Neonatologist with an interest in cardiology and hemodynamics (Q-NiCHE) program. He manages newborns requiring intensive care, with expertise in complex multi-system problems, surgical babies, and infants with complex heart problems.

He was Professor of Neonatology, Durham University, UK; Medical Director of Research and Innovation, and Consultant Neonatologist at University Hospital, North Tees, UK.

He is a visiting professor in Hong Kong, Slovakia, Argentina, Oman & India and holds international responsibilities: Steering committee member, American Society of Echocardiography (Neonatal section), USA; Steering committee member, NPE, Circulation section, ESPR, Chair of International Non-invasive cardiac output monitoring Special interest group of European Society for Pediatric Research and Associate Editor of the Seminars in Fetal and Neonatal Medicine journal. He is a principal investigator of NIHR, UK-funded clinical trials, and holds numerous grants

Dr. Abdulwahed Zainel

Dr. Abdulwahed is a Pediatric Infectious Disease Attending and a faculty member at Sidra Medicine in Doha, Qatar. He has been working as an attending physician since July 2023. He also serves as Pediatric Infectious Disease Fellowship Associate Program Director and Assistant Program Director for Pediatric Residency.

He is involved in several committees on infection prevention and control, renal transplant, and antimicrobial stewardship. He completed his Pediatric Residency at Sidra Medicine in 2018. Then, he pursued a pediatric infectious disease fellowship at BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada, from 2020 to 2023. He is experienced in managing children with acute and chronic infections and has a special interest in managing infections in immunocompromised populations.

Dr. Sharon Bout-Tabaku

Dr. Bout-Tabaku is Division Chief of Pediatric Rheumatology. She practiced at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, USA for 8 years. She was a portfolio coach/mentor for medical students at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Her research focused on the effects of obesity on the musculoskeletal system, specifically on pain, function and performance.

Dr. Bout-Tabaku has developed a clinical practice in general rheumatology, and has developed a multidisciplinary clinic to provide ophthalmology screening for patients with juvenile arthritis. She has developed several quality initiatives to ensure high quality patient services.

Dr.Bout-Tabaku teaches pediatric rheumatology to students from Weill Cornell Medical School and from Qatar University.

Dr. Bout-Tabaku research focus at Sidra Medicine has been in the genomics of rare inflammatory disease and in the pharmacogenomics of juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

Dr. Bout-Tabaku is a peer reviewer for multiple pediatric rheumatology journals and has spoken at regional and international meetings.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Hammadi

Dr. Ahmed Al Hammadi is the Chair of Pediatric Medicine at Sidra Medicine. He is responsible for the leadership of the hospital’s medical staff, upholding its clinical excellence and patient safety programs and ensuring that patients receive safe and effective medical care.

Dr. Al Hammadi earned his MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree at Alexandria University, Egypt, in 1998. He completed two pediatric residencies, one at Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar, in 2003 and another in 2008 at British Colombia Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada.

In 2010, Dr. Al Hammadi was awarded a fellowship in General Academic Pediatrics from the renowned Sick Kids Hospital, University of Toronto, Canada, and is a board-certified fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is also the program director of Sidra Medicine’s pediatric fellowship and residency programs and assistant professor of pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar. He served as the Executive Chair of Pediatric Medicine at Sidra Medicine preceding his appointment as Acting Chief Medical Officer.

In a previous role at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar, Dr. Al Hammadi was the Chief of General Pediatrics and co-founded the hospital’s Professionalism Course and Workshops. He was appointed to the examination board of the Pediatrics Arab Board in 2011 and is a member of the American Academy of Paediatrics and Canadian Paediatrics Society. He is an international member of the Review Committee-International (RC-I) for Medicine-based programs and also reviews and makes recommendations on AGCME-I programs for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

Dr. Al Hammadi’s research interests include vaccines, urinary tract infections in children, pediatric medical education, and health promotion. He is actively involved in medical education and has led several workshops locally and internationally.

Dr. Yazeed Eldos joined the Department of Emergency Medicine as an attending physician, and medical toxicologist in 2019. Dr. Eldos has experience in major trauma, fractures, and crush injuries in the pediatric age group. He is also a trauma team leader at Sidra Medicine’s trauma program. In addition, Dr. Eldos is the current medical director of the Qatar Poison Center.

Dr. Abdelrhman graduated from Khartoum University’s Faculty of Medicine. He had his Arab board training program at Hamad Medical Corporation, then got his MRCP and FRCPCH from Royal College of Physician and Royal College of Pediatric and Child Health in London, United Kingdom. He obtained his Master in Medical Education (Joint master in health professional education) from Suez Canal and Maastricht University.

With 23 years’ experience in the field of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Dr. Abdelrhman’s specialties is in pediatric growth and nutrition, gastrointestinal motility disorders and liver diseases.

Aside from being Sidra Medicine’s Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship Program Director, Dr. Abdelrhman is also in Medical Education and life support training. He is currently the Course Director of PLS and APLS courses conducted regularly and an Associate Professor at Weill Cornell College of Medicine (Qatar).

Dr. Khalid Awad Mohamed

Prof. Mandeep Duggal

Prof. Duggal obtained his dental degree and MDS in Pediatric Dentistry from India. He then immigrated to the United Kingdom and obtained his FDSRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and his PhD from University of Leeds. He was appointed Professor and Chair of Child Dental Health at University of Leeds, Leeds Dental Institute in 1999 where he oversaw a large postgraduate program in Pediatric Dentistry which has international acclaim. In January 2017 he was appointed as Professor and Head of Pediatric Dentistry in Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore and then as the Vice Dean and Faculty Research Director of the National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore (NUCOHS). In January 2021 he was invited to become the Inaugural Dean of the first College of Dental Medicine in Qatar, Qatar University. He has served in several senior leadership positions, and was President of the European Academy of Pediatric Dentistry from 2014-2016 and has served on the board of EAPD for last 10 years. Professor Duggal has published over 200 research papers in international journals and is author of “Restorative Techniques in Pediatric Dentistry, which has been published in 7 languages and has sold over 16,000 copies worldwide. He has Co-Edited “Pediatric Dentistry” by Oxford, now in its 5th edition and is the most widely followed textbook in Pediatric dentistry in the world. More recently he authored “Pediatric Dentistry at a Glance”, published by Blackwell Willey. He has administered research grants totaling over seven million pounds and is an internationally recognized researcher and clinician with main research interest is Cariology and Translation Research in Clinical Pediatric Dentistry, including dental traumatology and regenerative endodontics and auto-transplantation. Apart from Pediatric Dentistry his main interest is playing and watching cricket and any time spare from work and family is devoted to this important activity

Dr. Ahmed Abushahin

Dr. Ahmed Abushahin was Arab Board certified in pediatrics in 2004; then, he completed his fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in 2007. Dr. Abushahin is a senior attending pediatric pulmonology at Sidra Medicine and an assistant professor in clinical pediatrics at Weill-Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q).

Dr. Abushahin has been privileged to teach, train, and mentor medical students, pediatric residents, and pediatric pulmonology fellows. Dr. Abushahin has a particular interest in the area of Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD), Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), Severe asthma and Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test in children (CPET).

Dr. Abushahin has led and participated in numerous research projects and published many peer-reviewed articles in pediatric pulmonology medicine. His current research focuses on chronic lung disease of prematurity and cardio-pulmonary exercise test. Besides his clinical and academic commitments, Dr. Abushahin holds several key positions in Sidra Medicine. He is the medical director of the pulmonary function laboratory, the leader of the flexible bronchoscopy service, the director of the Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia respiratory care program, and the director of the Palivizumab passive immunization program.

Dr. Abubakr Imam

Joined the faculty at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan/Wayne State University in 2001 as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and became the Director of Renal Transplantation Program form 2003-2006. Then joined the faculty of Akron Children’s Hospital in Ohio as an Associate Professor and the Division Chief of Nephrology & Hypertension from 2006-2009. Moved to the Middle East as the Head Section of Nephrology at King Fahad Medical City in the Kingdome of Saudi Arabia from 2009-2012.

Currently, the Head Section of Pediatric Nephrology at Hamad Medical Corporation and the Division Chief, Pediatric Nephrology and Hypertension at Sidra Medicine.

Dr. Khalid Hussain

Khalid Hussain is the Division Chief of Pediatric Endocrinology at Sidra Medicine. He is responsible for establishing and developing the clinical endocrine and diabetes service. He leads a multidisciplinary team (consultant endocrinologists and diabetologists, insulin pump experts, endocrine nurses, diabetic educators and highly specialized dieticians) providing care for children with all endocrine conditions including diabetes. Specialist clinics for children with all types of diabetes are now established and children with diabetes are managed with the latest technological advances. His vision is to create a word class center for children with diabetes providing the highest standard of clinical care.

At Sidra Medicine, Dr. Hussain’s research focuses on understanding the epidemiology, biochemical and molecular mechanisms of childhood diabetes. His research is funded by Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) and Sidra Internal Research Fund (SIRF). Dr. Hussain is an internationally recognized expert in the field of childhood hypoglycemia and rare types of diabetes mellitus. He has published extensively in the field of glucose physiology with more than 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts in journals including NEJM, Science, Nature Genetics, Cell Metabolism, EMBO, JCI, PNAS, HMG, AJHG, Diabetes, Diabetologia and JCEM.

Prior to joining Sidra, Dr. Hussain was the GOSHCC (Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity) Professor of Pediatric Metabolic Endocrinology at The Institute of Child Health, University College London and Honorary Consultant Pediatric Endocrinologist at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London UK. Dr. Hussain qualified in Medicine from Glasgow University in Scotland UK and then trained in Neonatology, Metabolic medicine and Paediatric Endocrinology in London (Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital) and Australia (Monash Medical Center, Melbourne).

Dr. Faisal Abdulkader

Dr. Faisal Abdulkader is a graduate of Southampton Medical School, University of Southampton, England, UK 1998. He undertook his surgical training in the field of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He did his sub-specialty fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at The Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Following that he did his Master of Science degree in Quality and Safety in Healthcare Management at the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland.

Dr. Abdulkader is heavily involved in training and education and in addition to his role at Sidra Medicine, he is a clinical Assistant Professor at Weil Cornell Medicine – Qatar.

Dr. Abdulkader is also an examiner for the Arab Board in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. Khoula Al Said

Dr. Khoula Al-Said, she is the Director of the Child Health Department at the Royal Hospital in Muscat, Oman, and a Senior Consultant in Pediatric Gastroenterology. She completed her medical degree at Sultan Qaboos University and pursued residency and fellowship training at Alberta Children’s Hospital, Canada.

Dr. Al-Said has held multiple leadership roles, including Head of the Pediatric Gastroenterology Unit and Chair of the Pediatric Residency Program at OMSB, where she helped achieve international accreditation. She also serves as President of the Oman Pediatric Society, leading national advocacy campaigns such as the “Aman” drowning prevention initiative and online pediatric learning series. A frequent speaker at regional and international conferences, Dr. Al-Said has published widely in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and child health. She is committed to advancing pediatric services, education, and child advocacy in Oman and beyond.

Dr. Haytham Ibrahim

Dr. Haytham obtained his medical degree at Ain Shams University, Faculty of Medicine in Egypt 1994.

His pediatrics residency was at Hamad General Hospital, Qatar, where he completed his fellowship training in the pediatric cardiology section.

He obtained a Master’s degree in Pediatrics from Ain Shams University, Faculty of Medicine in Egypt in 2000, the Arab Board in Pediatrics in 2007, Membership of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) UK in 2012, and The European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging certificate in Congenital Heart Disease. He is a member of the Gulf Heart Association and the European Society of Cardiology.

Dr. Ibrahim has 15 years of experience in Pediatrics Cardiology, with a special interest in Echocardiography, including 3D Echocardiography for precise diagnosis of complex congenital heart diseases.

He is a senior attending Pediatric Cardiologist Director of the Non–Non-Invasive lab and a Consultant in Pediatric Cardiology at Sidra Medicine. He is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar (WCM-Q)

Using the latest advances in diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases, Dr Ibrahim provides care for:

Dr. Guy Brisseau

Dr. Brisseau is a cutting edge pediatric general and thoracic surgeon as well as an acclaimed surgical educator. He is a board certified general surgeon as well as a pediatric surgeon. These dual boards are held in two countries , USA and Canada. Having practiced in both countries he brings this clinical expertise to Doha at the Sidra Medical and Research Center.

Pediatric surgeons care for the most vulnerable members in our society. They care for children born with congenital anomalies as well as those with cancer. Anatomically pediatric surgeons care for the complete child. These include problems of the head and neck, thorax, abdomen, pelvis as well as soft tissues. Along with a wealth of broad clinical experience, Dr. Brisseau is also an advanced minimally invasive surgeon and an expert in pediatric trauma.

Besides his clinical expertise Dr. Brisseau is an awarded medical educator having developed programs in a variety of areas including simulation and distance education. His academic area of research is in medical education.

Dr. Jehan Al Rayahi

Dr. Jehan Al Rayahi joined Sidra Medicine in 2018. She is the Division chief of neuro-imaging and an attending pediatric neuroradiologist. She is also the program director of both their pediatric radiology and Pediatric Neuroradiology fellowship programs.

Dr. Jehan is a Weill Cornell Medicine graduate from the inaugural class of 2008. She completed her residency at Hamad Hospital in Qatar. She then completed two fellowships in pediatric radiology and pediatric neuroradiology at the Hospital of Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. Her main interests and research are in the genomics of pediatric neuroradiology.

Dr. Jehan is also interested in pediatric epilepsy research and is the lead neuroradiologist in Sidra’s Epilepsy Surgical Program.

Dr. Fadiah Al-Khattabi

Dr. Fadiah Alkhattabi is a Consultant Pediatrician and Child Abuse Pediatrician with a broad role as an educator, researcher, and advocate. She heads the Child and Adult Protection Department and the Employee Wellness Department at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC). A former program director for the pediatric residency program at KFSH&RC, she has made significant contributions to pediatric education and child protection. She is also an active faculty of the Pediatric Clerkship Program as an Assistant Professor at Al Faisal University, Riyadh.

Dr. Alkhattabi serves as the chair of the National Health Committee dealing with cases of abuse and violence at the Saudi Health Council, playing a pivotal role in shaping policies and procedures on abuse prevention and response. Dr. Fadiah Al Khattabi completed her Residency at King Faisal Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She pursued Clinical Pediatrics Fellowship training at The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, from 2009 to 2011, Medical Education Fellowship under the Division of Family Medicine, University of Toronto, Canada, from 2013 to 2015, and at the same time, completed Clinical Child Abuse and Neglect Fellowship training from 2011 to 2015 in The Hospital for Sick Children. AlKhattabi, certified by the Arab, Saudi, and American Boards in pediatrics, earned her Physician Executive MBA from the University of Tennessee's Haslam Business School. She is also a Harvard Macy Institute Program certificate holder for Educators in Healthcare Professionals.

Dr. Amal Khalifa

Dr. Manasik Hassan

Dr. Manasik is a General Pediatric Consultant at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) since 2015. She is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatric at the College of Medicine, Qatar University and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatric at the Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q).

Dr. Manasik received her medical training at Gezira University in Sudan. Her areas of practice and interest include inpatient medicine, participating in designing and conducting clinical research, teaching, and supervising residents during their residency, putting great effort in clinical and academic researchers and quality improvement projects in pediatric programs. She has a wide variety of accepted abstracts and has presented workshops in multiple international conferences. She is an instructor of a different educational committee including communication, simulation, quality and safety.

Dr. Shabina Khan

She is a general pediatric consultant with 18 years of experience at Hamad General Hospital, specializing in inpatient and ambulatory care. she holds a fellowship in academic pediatrics (HMC, 2015) and MRCPCH (RCPCH, 2017). She serves as faculty for pediatric residency and fellowship programs at Sidra Medicine, Weill Cornell Qatar, and Qatar University. At HMC, I contribute to multiple committees including quality and safety, simulation, and examinations. She led several pediatric quality improvement initiatives, published research, and in 2023, launched Qatar’s first family-centered milk allergy clinic for infants and young children.

Dr. Mamoun Elawad

Sidra Medicine

Prof. Elawad is the Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology/Hepatology/Nutrition division and Section Head of Inflammatory Bowel Disorders at Sidra Medicine, where he has been serving since 2014. He brings decades of clinical and academic expertise in managing complex gastrointestinal conditions in children. Prof. Elawad completed his pediatric gastroenterology training at renowned UK institutions, including Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and King’s College Hospital.

Prior to joining Sidra Medicine, he held consultant positions at University Hospital of Wales, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and served as a Senior Lecturer at University College London. He has been the Head of the Department at GOSH since 2007 where he led major departmental expansion. He established the world’s first Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant program for autoimmune and inflammatory gut diseases and co-founded the European GENIUS group for early-onset Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). His research focuses on IBD genetics, food allergies, and stem cell therapy, with over 50 peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Abdelsalam Hegazy

Sidra Medicine

Abdelsalam Hegazy MD is Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon who has extensive experience in Adult and Pediatric Orthopedic Trauma and more than 20 years of General Orthopedic experience.

Between 1995 and 2000 he completed Orthopedic and Traumatology training at Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey. In 2008, he earned his board certificate in Turkey and became a member of the Turkish Orthopedic and Traumatology Educational Council (TOTEC). In 2012, he did his Pediatric Orthopedic clinical Fellowship at Toronto University Sickkids Hospital in Toronto, Canada.

In addition to his experience in adult and pediatric orthopedic trauma, he is specialized in lower limb problems. In particular, leg length discrepancy and deformity, developmental hip dysplasia, and foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Hegazy is an Assistant Professor in Clinical Orthopedic Surgery in Weill Cornell Medical College. In addition to his interest in teaching, he has published many peer reviewed articles and book chapters in his field.

Dr. Caroline Beck

Dr. Carolin Beck, a dedicated pediatric specialist, working in the general pediatric inpatient unit and outpatient clinic at Hamad Medical Corporation Doha, Qatar. After graduating from the University of Wuerzburg and Munich, Germany, and initially working as physician in Germany, she moved to Qatar in 2013. She completed both her residency and academic pediatric fellowship at Hamad Medical Corporation and Sidra Medicine.

Dr. Carolin is Pediatric Arab Board certified. She has a keen interest in the education and training of Sidra pediatric residents and Qatar University students. As a wholehearted pediatrician, she is particularly passionate about pediatric growth and managing complex cases of pediatric malnutrition and related diseases in the specialized pediatric growth clinic at Hamad Medical Corporation.

Dr. Mohammed Alkuwari is a Senior Consultant in General Pediatrics, serving as Deputy Medical Director for Clinical Operations at Hamad General Hospital, Pediatric Lead at Aisha Bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital, and Head of General Pediatrics at Hamad General Hospital. He holds a Fellowship in General Academic Pediatrics, a Master’s in Healthcare Quality from Harvard Medical School, and a Master’s in Leadership of Healthcare Organizations from the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Alkuwari combines clinical expertise with leadership in healthcare operations, quality improvement, and workforce development, advancing clinical services and operational excellence across Qatar.

Dr. Samar Magboul

Samar Magboul is an Attending physician in General Pediatrics with strong involvement in medical education, pediatric residency training, and pediatric hospital medicine fellowship. She leads the Pediatric Medicine Quality of Outpatient department at Sidra Medicine, and operates a Pediatric Voiding & Dysfunction Clinic, reflecting her special interest in voiding disorders in children. Dr. Magboul has contributed to several research projects and abstracts, particularly in pediatric infectious diseases, including studies on COVID-19. Her roles in clinical practice, quality improvement, education, and specialized pediatric care underscore her commitment to advancing both patient health and pediatric training.

Madeeha Kamal

MD, FAAP, FRCPC, Senior Attending -Sidra Medicine

Dr. Madeeha Kamal joined Sidra Medicine in 2017 and currently serves as the Acting Division Chief of Adolescent Medicine, General Pediatrics, and Dermatology. Her clinical interests include adolescent health, behavioral pediatrics, eating disorders, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorders. She established Qatar’s first multidisciplinary adolescent eating disorder program in 2013 and remains actively involved in research and teaching.

Prior to Sidra Medicine, Dr. Kamal was a Senior Consultant Pediatrician at Hamad Medical Corporation, where she led the Adolescent Medicine Program. Her career spans roles in Bahrain, Canada, and Qatar.

Dr. Kamal holds academic appointments as Professor of Pediatrics at Qatar University – College of Medicine and as Clerkship Director and Associate Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar. She is also a member of the U.S. National Board of Medical Examiners, contributing to the development of IFOM examination content.

Ahmed Al Hammadi

Dr. Ahmed Al Hammadi is the Chair of Pediatric Medicine at Sidra Medicine. He is responsible for the leadership of the hospital’s medical staff, upholding its clinical excellence and patient safety programs and ensuring that patients receive safe and effective medical care.

Dr. Al Hammadi earned his MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree at Alexandria University, Egypt, in 1998. He completed two pediatric residencies, one at Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar, in 2003 and another in 2008 at British Colombia Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada.

In 2010, Dr. Al Hammadi was awarded a fellowship in General Academic Pediatrics from the renowned Sick Kids Hospital, University of Toronto, Canada, and is a board-certified fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is also the program director of Sidra Medicine’s pediatric fellowship and residency programs and assistant professor of pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar. He served as the Executive Chair of Pediatric Medicine at Sidra Medicine preceding his appointment as Acting Chief Medical Officer.

In a previous role at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar, Dr. Al Hammadi was the Chief of General Pediatrics and co-founded the hospital’s Professionalism Course and Workshops. He was appointed to the examination board of the Pediatrics Arab Board in 2011 and is a member of the American Academy of Paediatrics and Canadian Paediatrics Society. He is an international member of the Review Committee-International (RC-I) for Medicine-based programs and also reviews and makes recommendations on AGCME-I programs for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

Dr. Al Hammadi’s research interests include vaccines, urinary tract infections in children, pediatric medical education, and health promotion. He is actively involved in medical education and has led several workshops locally and internationally.
